Unit Turnover

There's nothing like cleaning up after someone, let alone a stranger. Yet, the ultimate reward at the end -watching a new tenant move into their new home - is well worth the hassle.

Today was the final day to turnover a vacant unit. It took a lot longer to turnover this unit since the vacancy provided an opportunity to upgrade the apartment. A new countertop, sink, flooring (tile) and carpet were added to enhance the unit's appearance. The end result looked fantastic and we look forward to renting it in a couple of days.

Tip of the day
When you get a chance to assess a unit for improvement, you have to look at the things that will make the amount of time, money, and energy spent worth it. For instance, one of the things we added to the recently vacant unit were tiles at the front entrance. This will help preserve the life expectancy of the carpet by limiting the amount of dirt and snow tracked into the unit on a daily basis.

Vocabulary
Unit Turnover: the process in which a unit is thoroughly cleaned after the previous tenant vacates, in preparation for a new tenant. The process may include minor or major upgrades such as caulking, to new kitchen and/or bathroom renovation.
